Blake Zabrek: About Me

biophoto.jpg

I was born in 1994 in Houston, Texas and started playing the piano when I was 6 at Memorial School of Music with Ms. Catherine Figler. I now live in California and have been enjoying playing competitively with Dr. Umida Avloni at Lamorinda Academy of Music and Art. All of the people listed have contributed to my life musically. For this I am grateful. I plan to be an architect/developer when I grow up but continue to play the piano and write music as a hobby.

My newest CD, "The Gift" was a collaborative effort including two friends of mine, Vince Lim and Liam Robertson. With the help of Brian Chamberlin teaching us how to use the recording equipment and mastering the final product I got a lot of new experiences from this project.

I want to give special thanks to the following people for influencing me musically:

Catherine Figler, Dr. Umida Avloni, Glenn Walp, Ken Berman, Aaron Alon, Dr. Jee Sook Cha, Galina Lay, Gina Dixon, Faith Hebard and Christine Cutler

And my favorite mentors:

Nat King Cole, Jim Brickman, Hugh Thompson and Leland Dent

I would also like to mention my CD "Friends Forever" would not be possible without the expertise and dedication from Tan Truong at Westside Recording Studio and John Kim at Joy Photo Studio. I played the piano but they made the project special.
